October Meeting

 Dear Members,

Our next meeting is Tuesday, October 20, 2015.  Social at 6pm and meeting at 7pm.

It will be at Bayside Sports Grille, 142 E. Walled Lake Dr., Walled Lake.  Food will be provided.  Cash bar.

Around the World Party Update from Ron Johnston


The around the world party is August 29 starts at 11am and wrist bands go on sale next week through RJ or they can get them at Sundance for $25.00 each.

They are a silicone band that has Around the World WLCF 2015 printed on them.

Lake Board Hearing 6/3/2015

On 6-3-2015 at 7:00 P.M. at the Novi City Hall, the Lake Board will hold a hearing regarding the extension of the special assessment roll from 2015 thru 2019. This is important to maintain the gains we have made. The new rates are about 30% lower.

Swan Nest and Egg Removal

Dear Members:

The responses from our members were the majority to address removing the muted swans.  We have sent the attached letter to the City of Novi.  It is a request to add muted swan nests and eggs removal.  A requirement of the DEQ permit is that we need to have a resolution from the city.

Will let you know later in the week if it will be on the city's March 9 council agenda.

Boat Parade 2015

We are taking a survey for the Fourth of July Boat Parade.

Important City Council Meetings Week of January 12: Lake Board Extension and Condo Boat Slip Request

Two important issues are on the agenda at city council meetings this week.

Please make time to go to the Novi City Council meeting this coming Monday, 1/12, at 7 pm.  They are having a public hearing regarding the extending of the Walled Lake Improvement Board.  Note, it is the first item on their agenda.

Novi Civic Center is located 45175 Ten Mile.

We need members to show support for the Lake Board being extended.  Without the Lake Board, it would be almost impossibel to deal with the issues regarding the lake.  The control of the weeds we have worked on would not have happened without the Lake Board.  It appears there will always be some new threat to the lake as we have seen the the discovery of curly leaf and other invasive plants.  The Lake Board is the best tool to deal with these isssues.

And also, please tell your neighbors and friends on the lake about this meeting.

Please make time to attend the City of Walled Lake's city council meeting this coming Tues., 1/13, at 7:30.  They are holding a public hearing regarding Eastbay Condos request for amending their agreement with the City to allow boat slips.

Please tell your neighbors and friends on the lake about this.

The following was copied from our letter to the City regarding this issue:

Subject:              East Bay Condominium PUD
East Bay condominium would like to modify the PUD agreement with the city regarding boat dockage and motorized boat usage. Not sure why every few years we have to revisit this issue. The Condos came to city for increased building density and gave up any right to dockage or motorized boats in return. The city understood that the lake could not support additional boats and agreed to the deal.
When the dock ordinance was being written the same clarification was explained during public hearings and city has done an excellent job of enforcement. A sign is posted on the lakefront side of the condo’s stating “No docking City Ordinance” which is untrue. The reason there is no dockage is the contract between East Bay and the city.
The lake has over 800 boats currently; the number would be well over a 1,000 if the property owners with lake access exercised their rights to dock a boat. Overcrowding and safety were the key considerations when this agreement went into effect and the same conditions apply now.
This proposal should not be considered.  Is it too much to ask the East Bay condominiums to live up to agreement they asked for?
